One Big Week

It is official. Zach is done with his B.S. His senior project was accepted this week and he received 100% on it. The graders comments were all very positive and encouraging. I am so very very proud of him. He has decided he is going to continue on for a masters degree in computer security. He is also looking for work. Right now he is following up on several leads that have come up over the last month or so. We are very hopeful that one of them will turn in to something great.

Last Sunday, Father's Day, Hannah was blessed. It was a beautiful blessing and such a wonderful thing for Zach to get to do on Father's day. Our sweet girl was blessed with courage, strength, knowledge, joy and happiness. She will be a peacemaker in our home. I can already see so many of these blessings in her. After church we had a big BBQ at the house to celebrate the Fathers in our life. It was so much fun. We had about 25 people in our little house but it all went very well.

Monday night Grace had her first articulated nightmare. She has woken up very distressed before, but never has she been able to tell us what was wrong. Monday, however, when I went in to check on her after hearing her start crying she told me about her scary dream. Our conversation was as follows;
"Gracie, whats the matter?"
"Theres a pine cone on my arm"
"No, honey, there are no pine cones in your bed"
"I don't like pine cones"
"I know, but it's okay. There are no pine cones in bed"
"It was a big one too"
After this I was able to calm her down and convince her there were no pine cones. Zach came in and found a tiny piece of something scratchy in her bed that he thinks must have rubbed her arm in her sleep. Anyway, she eventually went back to sleep. It was so hard to keep from laughing and being slightly jealous that her greatest fear in life at this point is pine cones. She will not walk over or near a pine cone. She takes great pleasure in squishing them under the wheels of the stroller or bike. It is so funny. I have no idea where this fear came from. Poor kid and yet lucky at the same. time.

Hannah had her well check on Monday and got a wonderful report. She is 11.5 lbs and 23.5 inches. The pediatrician was very pleased with and impressed by her "social intelligence". Hannah is very very responsive when being spoken too and does her best to talk back. She makes all kinds of different noises while smiling and maintaining eye contact. She is such a sweet and happy baby. I never get tired of hearing her talk and seeing her generously doled out smiles. What a joy and blessing she is to me.
