I had a prenatal check today. I am 35 weeks and 5 days along which means just a little over 3 weeks left until Hannah's birthday. Everything is going just fine. Hannah has a good strong heartbeat and I am measuring exactly where I should be for this point in the pregnancy.
I can not believe how close we are to adding miss Hannah to our family. I feel like it was only yesterday that we found out she was coming and now she is nearly here. Everything is ready for her at home. Gracie's room has been transformed into the "girls'" room with the addition of the crib, rocking chair and extra dresser. We wanted to give her plenty of time to adjust to the idea of sharing her room with Hannah. I have sorted and washed all the baby clothes and filled Hannah's dresser. Each time I go in the room I get a little thrill of excitement. Somehow having a place for her makes things seem more real.
Grace is very excited for her baby sister to arrive. She often talks to her (or yells depending on her mood) and tells me that she wants baby Hannah to come out. I drove her by the hospital a few weeks ago to show her where I would be when we had the baby and explained what would be happening with her that morning. I had also made the mistake of explaining how Baby Hannah was going to be born and she really clung to the cutting part of it. She had seen my scar and I told her that is where the doctor cut to take her out when she was born and that it would be the same with Hannah. She has since told anyone that will listen that the doctor is going to "cut, cut, cut and take out baby Hannah". I did not fully appreciate the ramifications of trying to explain a cesarean to a two year old. Oh well, she seems perfectly fine with the concept so I guess there is no harm done. I am so excited to see how she welcomes her baby sister. I hope the reality of it is as exciting to her as the anticipation.
