Taking the First Step

Writing a blog is something I have threatened to do since Grace was born. I have two main reasons for doing this; First off, I want a place to record our family's life as we grow, have new experiences and, as the title says, make memories. Second, We have many family members and friends who live far away from us that we do not get to see as often as we would like and I hope this will serve as a way for us to share our life with them from a distance.

As of this moment our family consists of myself, Zach, and our daughter Grace. We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our second daughter Hannah which will be in about three weeks. I still have a hard time believing we are going to be a family of four in such a short time.

Here is what has been happening to us in the past few months.

Hynix (the company Zach was working for) shut down in September 2008. At that point Zach had the opportunity to go back to school and complete his education. This is what he has been working on for the last year and a half. I went back to work at that time but then in June 2009 the company I was working for also closed. I have been back to being home full time with Grace since that time and Zach has buckled down with school. He took his last test (the Sun Java Programmer Certification) two weeks ago and now has only his senior project to complete for graduation. He will be receiving his Bachelors of Computer science with a focus on programming. He is starting the tedious and somewhat frustrating process of finding a job. We would really like to stay in Eugene but are looking for jobs all over the state. wish him luck! In this market it is much needed.

Grace and I have been trying to keep ourselves busy this winter. We go to story time at the library (where she mostly just watches all the other kids), open gym at a gymnastics center and open swim at the community pool. We have been having a lot of fun doing these things. It is a nice break from being at home and it is so fun to see her developing new skills. Grace is an amazing little girl (I am sure all parents feel this way about their children)and I am so glad I get to spend so much time with her. I would not trade my Mommy time for anything in the world.

So, there is the quick version of our recent life. My goal with this blog is to write at least once a week to keep our family in the loop and to keep a record of our daily existence for my daughters. I hope that someday they will be able to look back on these postings (which I am told by a friend I can print out to save) and remember all the wonderful times we had as a family and the events that made us who we are. So, keep checking in and if I have not posted in a while please feel free to harass me. I may need it.

  1. Congratulations on starting a blog. This is something I have been harassed about not doing for a long time. I applaud your efforts. They may even inspire me to start my own... maybe.
