Easter Fun

Christmas was easy to explain. Grace has a very good idea of what a birthday is and so when we explained that Christmas was the celebration of Jesus' birthday, she understood. She would even tell you, if asked, that Chrstmas was Jesus' birthday. I was so pleased. Well as Easter came around I tried to figure out how to explain the death and ressurection of Christ to a two year old. I have yet to figure it out and here we are at the end of the day. Alas, such is life.

We had a very nice Easter at home. The Easter Bunny came to our house twice. Once last night to leave a basket of goodies for Gracie and again at naptime to leave an egg hunt for Grace and her friend Dallin. Gracie's Easter basket had new sidewalk chalk, a giant bubble wand some candy treats and two little bunnies. In the morning we watched General conference (it was a little strange not being AT church) then had a nice lunch over at Jack and Rhonda's where the Easter bunny had dropped off another basket for Grace. After lunch we came home for a nap. After nap our friends Landon and Heather came over with their son Dallin (who is only a few days younger than Grace) and new daughter Susie. The kids got to do the Easter egg hunt and it was wonderful to watch. Grace had woken up a little before they got here and had cheated by scoping out some of the eggs. As soon as Dallin was in the door she grabbedd her basket and was ready to actually pick them up. They had so much fun. I was really impressed by how many they were able to find without any prompting. It was great to watch them. They were so excited to find out what was inside their eggs and each sat down and emptied their eggs and discovered all the candy within. We have been trying to regulate the candy consumption but I tell ya, this girl is sneaky! We had a big breakfast for dinner and just enjoyed watching the kids. It was a very relaxed day but we had a wonderful time.

I am so grateful to have an Easter to celebrate. I am grateful for the sacrifice of Christ and all that it has done for me. Praise be to God for this beautiful day.

  1. I loved reading about Grace and the brilliant, beautiful, incredible child she is. Yes, its common for every parent to think this about their child, but it doesn't make it any less true. :) I also loved your testimony about being a stay-at-home mom, Genny, and your joy in experiencing all the day-to-day miracles with your daughter (soon to be daughters!). There truly is nothing greater than being there for all your kids "firsts" and the wonder that fills you as a parent as you watch them grow and become. Good luck to Zach with his job hunt, and hope these last few weeks until Hannah get here go fast for you. I'll be checking back regularly to stay updated with you all. Love to you all! P.S. I started a family blog last summer and haven't done too well at keeping it updated but its been fun. Its www.laurifredrickson.blogspot.com
